It's Time to Eat Well in Castro Valley

From July 2014 until December 2019, Debbie Pfisterer, owner of Oakland-based Blue Heron Catering opened and operated the much-loved Cannery Café in Hayward.

It was that first location that inspired the Cannery team’s vision of community in a lively gathering space featuring soulful, honest cooking reflected the bounty of the wonderful Bay Area food shed. We put value in our relationships, with local farmers, artisans and ranchers that shared our mission as well as with our like-minded customers, employees and community partners. As a green-minded business, it is our passion to practice sustainability and resource conservation, while providing a great meal, at an inviting location, for a reasonable price.

We are very excited and proud to share our vision and mission with local and surrounding communities and to be a part of the Castro Valley Marketplace.

Draft Beers on Tap

We keep our partners LOCAL. Our rotating selection of seasonal craft beers is curated from Bay Area brewers who rotate flavors, explore different methods, and keep it exciting all year!  Check out our tap takeover events where you can meet the beer team from these breweries.

Green Certified

Our earth is important to us and we are doing our best to practice sustainability and resource conservation. There's so much to consider when trying to save a planet and we're starting by getting certified as a green business leader in our community in 2022
